Coil spring: Full spring force with minimal space requirements

Coil springs may seem small, but they have an enormous impact on process stability. They offer the ideal solution wherever space is limited and high restoring forces are required. N2-Tech supplies coil springs that are precisely tailored to your tools and work reliably even at high cycle rates.

Small component, big impact

There are pressing tools that are unsuitable for gas pressure springs. This is particularly the case when high ambient temperatures, oil mist, dirt, or chips cause problems in the tool. In some cases, the cost of gas pressure springs for a test tool is too high, or the spring travel is so low that screw pressure springs offer an acceptable solution.

This is where coil springs come into their own: they function purely mechanically, are insensitive to external influences, and work reliably over long periods of time without any maintenance, pressure loss, or seals.

Typical areas of application are:

  • Small-stroke tools, such as those used in the contact industry
  • Selective additional spring force in combination with manifold plates or Die-cushion
  • Applications with increased contamination
    Tools with low mileage

How the technology behind the coil spring works

The coil spring does not contain nitrogen, but rather high-strength spring steel. When this steel is compressed under force, it stores energy. When the load is released, it releases this energy in the form of a controlled restoring force. It sounds simple. And it is. That is precisely where the strength of this design lies.

There are no seals that can wear out. No gas that can escape. No medium that needs to be refilled. Just steel that works reliably. The spring characteristic curve can be determined precisely: linear, progressive, or graduated. The maximum stroke, overall length, and force can also be tailored precisely to the respective tool.

For our customers, this means a spring that fits their installation situation perfectly and works reliably over the long term.

Typical problems we solve with coil springs

Many toolmakers come to us when other spring systems fail. Either because space is too limited, maintenance costs are too high, or system stability is too weak. In these cases, we work with our customers to design a mechanical solution that does exactly what it is supposed to do: deliver force. And it does so permanently.

The gas spring is too complex

In modern tools, every millimeter counts. However, if there is sufficient space available, or if employees are not trained to work with gas springs, then screw pressure springs can be a real alternative for your tool. No additional equipment is required for filling or checking screw pressure springs. The preload force can be easily adjusted by replacing the springs with a different spring line.

Maintenance is too costly

A system that needs to be checked, refilled, or expanded every few weeks costs time and money. Coil springs work for months without any maintenance. No nitrogen loss, no checks, no hassle.

The environment is too harsh for sensitive systems

Chips, oil, coolant—many presses operate under conditions that cause gas pressure systems to age quickly. Mechanical springs are made for this. They don’t need protection; they just work.

Benefits that really make a difference in everyday life

Anyone who has ever equipped a tool with coil springs quickly appreciates their properties. Not only are they robust, they also reduce the workload for the maintenance team.

Maintenance-free operation

Since the spring operates purely mechanically, no maintenance is required. There is nothing to fill and nothing to check. Once installed, it performs its task reliably—without anyone having to intervene.

Durability

Our coil springs can withstand millions of strokes – even with daily use in three-shift operation. No loss of force, no loss of performance.

Insensitivity

Temperature fluctuations, dirt, oil, or coolant? No problem. The springs continue to run smoothly, even when other systems have long since failed.

Quick availability

We supply coil springs in many sizes ourselves or tailor custom-made products individually to your tool. This means you get exactly the component you need—without compromising on force or installation position.

Working together to find the right coil spring

At N2-Tech, every solution begins with a conversation. We work with you to analyze your specific needs: What forces need to be absorbed? How much installation space is available? What environmental influences affect operation? What is the desired service life?

Based on these factors, we develop a mechanical spring solution that is precisely tailored to your application. The design is carried out in close coordination with your tool design. On request, we also supply the complete documentation and provide support with on-site installation.

Whether it’s a retrofit, new development, or hybrid solution: we don’t just supply a spring, we provide the right answer to your challenge.
